Kai Trump, the granddaughter of US President Donald Trump, has revealed her upcoming debut on the LPGA Tour later this year.
Scheduled at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida in November, the Annika Driven By Gainbridge event will mark Kai’s first appearance on the LPGA Tour. This competition, set as the penultimate event of the year, promises an opportunity for one of golf’s emerging talents.
Kai, who accompanied her grandfather Donald at the Ryder Cup in Bethpage Black, New York, where Team Europe triumphed over Team USA, received a personalized gift from Whoop, a sponsor typically reserved for Team USA members and staff.
With a prize pool of $3.25 million (£2.46m), the Annika event has prompted Kai to pause her studies at the University of Miami to participate. In a social media post, Kai excitedly shared her debut announcement for the LPGA Tour event next month.
Expressing her enthusiasm in a video to her 910,000 followers, Kai mentioned, “I’m thrilled to announce my LPGA Tour debut in November at The Annika Driven By Gainbridge at Pelican Golf Club. Competing professionally has been a dream, and I’m grateful for the invitation.”
Ranked 979th among junior girls on The Universal Golf Rankings, Kai, the daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and Vanessa Trump, is a budding golfer recognized as one of the sport’s rising stars. The November competition in Florida is poised to be a significant challenge in her golfing journey.
With over six million social media followers, Kai recently launched an apparel and lifestyle brand targeting young female athletes. Ricki Lasky, the LPGA’s chief tour business and operations officer, emphasized the importance of sponsor invitations in spotlighting emerging talents and attracting new audiences to golf, especially among younger fans.
Kai’s broad reach and following are seen as instrumental in introducing golf to diverse audiences. The LPGA is excited to witness her progression in this next stage of her career.
Previously, Kai participated in the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley in March, finishing last among 24 players. The Annika event will feature top golfers like Charley Hull, the 2024 Chevron Championship winner, and defending champion Nelly Korda.
