Shocking recently released video footage captures the moment a well-known gang leader met his demise while attempting to evade law enforcement.
During a pursuit by armed officers, the head of the Tren de Aragua gang fell tragically while trying to maneuver through a balcony mid-chase. Ender Alexis Rojas Montan, aged 31, was reportedly a key figure in the Alayon Dynasty branch of the notorious gang before his fatal fall from an eight-story building.
On October 9, in Antioquia, Colombian National Police officials raided the property where Rojas Montan was trying to elude capture. Body camera footage reveals that as the officers breached the door, he tried to slip through the balcony railing, leading to his fatal plunge.
Instead of making a successful escape, Rojas Montan lost his grip and fell to the ground below, as seen in the video where an officer witnessed his lifeless body on the pavement.
Several armed officers stormed the residence, instructing the suspect to surrender. One individual complied by kneeling with hands raised, while another attempted to hide under a blanket.
Inside the apartment, authorities discovered illicit items, including a fragment of a grenade and a significant quantity of amphetamine valued at $9,550 (£7,110).
Arrested alongside Rojas Montan were three others believed to be associated with the criminal organization – Luis Alberto Cabeza Calderon, Yonathan Samuel Urbina Rodriguez, and Daviannys del Jesus Moya Avila.
Rojas Montan was wanted internationally for aggravated kidnapping and his involvement with Tren de Aragua, a gang originating in Venezuela. He has been a fugitive in Peru since 2023 for various criminal activities.
Following his escape from Chile in June 2024, Rojas Montan relocated to Colombia to expand the gang’s reach into the Aburra Valley, a region with an estimated population of four million.
The raid, known as Operation Shadow 3 in October, was a joint effort by Colombian, Chilean, and Peruvian authorities, with support from the US Drug Enforcement Agency and Ameripol.
Authorities stated that the arrested suspects were allegedly linked to the gang’s expansion, managing synthetic drug distributions, extortion networks, and sexual exploitation operations.
