Must read

Andy Murray, a two-time Wimbledon champion, showcased his impressive golf skills during the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship Pro-Am last month, boasting a golf handicap of two. Despite his golf prowess, he still trails behind Gareth Bale in the rankings.

Following his retirement from tennis, Murray has been actively participating in various Pro-Am golf tournaments, including the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth. His recent appearance in Scotland saw him playing at renowned courses like Carnoustie, Kingsbarns, and St Andrews, where he partnered with professional golfer Eddie Pepperell.

During the championship, Murray delivered a standout performance, notably at Carnoustie, where he ended the opening round with a birdie on the final hole. He even outdrove Ryder Cup hero Tyrrell on some fairways, showcasing his golfing abilities.

Expressing his desire to compete in prestigious golf events, Murray mentioned his aspiration to participate in The Open in the future. He reminisced about his experience at St Andrews’ Old Course, where he eagled the 18th hole earlier this year.

Murray, who aims to feature in The Open’s regional qualifying, shared his enthusiasm for the sport at the BMW PGA Championship Pro-Am. Despite acknowledging the skill gap between amateurs and professionals, he looks forward to possibly competing in The Open in the coming years.

With his focus on improving his golf game, Murray plans to reach a competitive level within the next few years, hoping not to embarrass himself on the course. His dedication to golf reflects his determination to excel in multiple sports beyond tennis.
