During a recent encounter with Donald Trump, Morgan was taken aback to learn that the US president had received a dossier detailing all the critical remarks Morgan had made about him. Trump confronted Morgan, quoting various comments and expressing his dismay.
Morgan suspected that Nigel Farage, who had launched a competing show on GB News, might have supplied the file to Trump in an attempt to disrupt the interview.
To salvage the situation, Morgan quickly pivoted to praising Trump, realizing that it might be the best strategy. By highlighting Trump’s golf prowess, specifically a reported hole-in-one incident during a game with golfing legend Ernie Els, Morgan managed to shift the focus away from negative critiques.
This change in approach immediately improved Trump’s demeanor, leading to a successful interview. Despite the positive outcome, Morgan didn’t forget Farage’s perceived betrayal, referring to him as a “treacherous weasel.”
Reflecting on the incident, Morgan expressed disappointment in Farage’s actions, feeling that Farage had sabotaged their interview after Morgan had congratulated him on his previous interview with Trump.
