“Albanian Siblings Accused of £335M Drug Syndicate”

Must read

Allegations have surfaced against two Albanian siblings, accusing them of orchestrating a £335 million drug syndicate from a car wash establishment in Bournemouth. Klevis Hoxhosmani, 37, and his elder brother, Artur Hoxhosmani, 42, were reportedly part of a major drug-smuggling network in Europe. The brothers allegedly trafficked cocaine to fund a luxurious lifestyle, leading to their arrest in August. Their extravagant spending on a yacht, high-end cars, and upscale residences raised suspicions, with approximately 16 accomplices identified in the operation.

Neighbours in Dorset, familiar with the Hoxhosmani brothers, labeled them as troublesome individuals. Klevis, the younger sibling, is said to be romantically involved with the daughter of a former Albanian official, often showcasing their opulence on social media. The criminal organization supposedly concealed cocaine within shipments of cocoa beans, bananas, and timber, utilizing legitimate transportation companies to move the illicit substances across Europe undetected.

The siblings reportedly utilized the Hawala money transfer system to evade scrutiny, a method that was eventually exposed by Albanian authorities in 2022. Owning luxurious properties in Albania’s capital and along the Ionian coast, as well as operating businesses in Bournemouth, the brothers’ alleged criminal enterprise faces scrutiny by Albania’s anti-corruption agency, which has already confiscated assets including a yacht and a fleet of high-end vehicles.

Accusations from Albanian prosecutors indicate that the siblings were involved in a significant cocaine seizure in France in 2020, with evidence suggesting their use of encrypted communications to coordinate the illicit activities. The criminal organization purportedly used everyday goods shipments to conceal the narcotics, with Albanian police asserting that large quantities were trafficked to European ports through unassuming truck drivers.

Klevis and Artur recently appeared in court in Tirana and remain in custody pending a trial. The brothers’ history in the UK dates back to the late 1990s, with their relocation to Bournemouth in the early 2010s. Allegations of connections with corrupt port officials in Ecuador and Colombia have surfaced, implicating the siblings in international drug trafficking operations. Law enforcement agencies in the UK and Albania are collaborating to combat the illicit activities, with Albanian prosecutors emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in dismantling such criminal networks.
