Thousands of households may qualify for £300 in energy assistance this winter. Blackpool Council is providing this energy credit through its Household Support Fund to eligible households. The amount of support varies, including energy aid, supermarket vouchers, and cash grants, with each local authority administering its own version of the fund.
Eligible households in Blackpool with one or two people, including children, can receive £200, while households with three or more people, including children, can qualify for £300. To access this support, households must demonstrate financial hardship and difficulties in paying bills by providing recent bank statements for all household members.
Applicants do not need to receive Universal Credit or other benefits to apply for the fund, but they can only receive one award per 12-month period. The payment is directly credited to the energy provider and appears on the bill or pre-payment meter. Residents can apply through the Blackpool Council website.
For non-Blackpool residents, it is advisable to check with the local council for available support through the Household Support Fund. Other councils, such as Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council and City of York Council, are also providing assistance to eligible residents with vouchers and one-off payments. Portsmouth City Council, for instance, offers £150 to single-person households and £200 to couples or families meeting specific income criteria.
Residents interested in these funds should check their local council’s website for eligibility criteria and application processes.
