Jamie Laing has recently disclosed his struggles with bulimia, citing a pivotal moment in his recovery when his wife, Sophie, witnessed him being sick. The Made In Chelsea star decided to share his battle with the eating disorder after watching Freddie Flintoff’s documentary, where the cricket star candidly discussed his own 20-year journey with bulimia.
Speaking to Fearne Cotton on her Happy Place podcast, Jamie opened up about his long-standing battle with bulimia, which began at the age of 18 following a sports injury that dashed his rugby aspirations. He recounted how comments about his weight during a holiday triggered his body image issues and led to a cycle of restrictive eating.
Joining Made In Chelsea exacerbated Jamie’s struggles, as he felt pressure to control his appearance due to public scrutiny. The turning point came when Sophie caught him engaging in harmful behaviors, prompting him to confront his destructive habits and seek help.
Comedian Jack Whitehall also shared his past experience with bulimia, commending Freddie Flintoff for speaking out about his own challenges. Whitehall highlighted the importance of raising awareness about eating disorders in the media.
