“Pressure Mounts on Farage Over Party’s ‘Outdated’ Views”

Must read

Nigel Farage is under pressure to denounce the “outdated” members within his party following comments made by one of his MPs about an “LGBT supporting” coalition facing the country.

Danny Kruger, who recently switched from the Conservatives to Reform UK, expressed his concerns about a mix of left-wing parties, including those advocating for LGBT rights, in a video shared on Reform UK’s YouTube channel. These remarks have been criticized as being “outdated and inappropriate,” prompting calls for Farage to disavow them.

During a membership drive event for Reform UK, Kruger, the son of TV personality Prue Leith, warned that the UK could potentially be governed by a nationalist party supporting Hamas and LGBT causes. He highlighted the challenge Reform faces against Liberal Democrats, Labour, Greens, Welsh nationalists, and Scottish nationalists, expressing his worry about a potential alliance post-election that could push the UK back into the EU.

Polly Billington, Labour MP for East Thanet, condemned Kruger’s comments as divisive and called on Farage to take a stand against such rhetoric. She criticized Reform for promoting division and expressed concerns about the direction the country might take under such influence.

When questioned by the Mirror at a press conference in London, Kruger failed to clarify his concerns regarding LGBT rights but emphasized the incoherence he perceives in the opposing coalition. He urged for support for Reform as a way to counter what he described as a potentially harmful government.

A source from the Labour party denounced Kruger’s comments as intolerant and regressive, warning against the normalization of such views in mainstream politics. This statement followed Kruger’s controversial remarks in 2023 regarding marriage and family values.

The article also mentioned previous remarks by Reform MP Sarah Pochin, who faced criticism for her comments on Black and Asian representation in advertisements. Farage expressed his disapproval of Pochin’s comments but stopped short of labeling them as racist, sparking further debate within the political arena.

Reform UK has been contacted for a response regarding Kruger’s statements.
