Lesley Joseph, aged 80, has openly shared her feelings of “tremendous guilt” for not spending enough time with her grandchildren. The renowned star of “Birds Of A Feather” was recently honored at the Variety Club Showbusiness Awards in London for her remarkable contributions to theatre and television, where she acknowledged her need to prioritize family life more.
Despite maintaining a private stance on her family life, Lesley, who has two children from a previous relationship, expressed regret for not meeting her children’s expectations as a grandmother. She attributed her career’s demands for hindering her ability to engage more with her family responsibilities, confessing her struggle to decline acting opportunities in favor of family time.
In a rare glimpse into her personal life, Lesley reflected on the loss of her mother in 2016, highlighting the enduring bond she shared with her. Recalling her mother’s zest for life, Lesley emphasized the ongoing influence her mother has on her daily thoughts and expressed gratitude for possibly inheriting her mother’s vitality.
Additionally, Lesley recently disclosed the challenges of maintaining a slim physique under the industry’s pressures. Despite her successful stage career post her iconic TV roles, she revealed the constant effort required to manage her weight, especially in preparation for public appearances like awards ceremonies.
Noteworthy for her diverse performances, including roles in productions like “Sister Act: The Musical” and “The Addams Family,” Lesley is set to star in the upcoming production of “Road” in Manchester from February onwards, alongside comedienne Lucy Beaumont and former “Coronation Street” star Shobna Gulati.
