Irish firefighter, Terence Crosbie, has been convicted of sexual assault at Suffolk Superior Court in Boston following a trial that lasted five days. The incident took place during St. Patrick’s Day festivities in March 2024, where Crosbie was accused of assaulting a 29-year-old woman. After a lengthy deliberation period of over 15 hours, a guilty verdict was reached. Crosbie’s sentencing is scheduled for October 30.
Upon hearing the verdict, Crosbie’s family and friends, seated at the front of the courtroom, were visibly emotional, shedding tears and covering their faces in disbelief. The details of the trial were reported by the Irish Star.
Crosbie was apprehended by authorities shortly after being questioned by the Boston Police Department, while he was boarding an Aer Lingus flight to Dublin. It was revealed in court that he had originally booked a late-night flight but switched to an earlier departure upon arrival at Logan Airport.
During the trial, it was disclosed that Crosbie, part of a group of Dublin firefighters in Boston for the St. Patrick’s Day parade, was staying at the Omni Parker House hotel. The victim recounted meeting Crosbie’s roommate at a local pub before returning to the hotel with him. She testified that they engaged in sexual activity, but later she awoke to another man assaulting her.
Following the incident, the victim promptly informed a friend about the ordeal through text messages. She later sought medical assistance at Massachusetts General Hospital, alleging sexual assault.
Throughout the legal proceedings, Crosbie vehemently denied the accusations against him, stating that he had no involvement in the assault. He claimed to have left the room upon the woman’s arrival and returned only after assuming the encounter had ended.
Despite the absence of Crosbie’s DNA evidence on the victim, forensic experts testified that DNA from two unidentified males was present. Ultimately, a jury comprising six men and six women found Crosbie guilty of the assault. His sentencing is scheduled for October 30.
