A tragic incident occurred where a young woman passed away due to alleged medical negligence, as doctors reportedly left a surgical bandage inside her abdomen after a Caesarean section birth. The woman, Jyoti Pal, delivered her son in January at a private hospital. Following the procedure, she began experiencing severe abdominal pain, prompting a return to the hospital for medical evaluation.
Despite efforts by doctors, the source of Jyoti’s pain remained unknown, leading to a worsening condition. Subsequent examinations at another hospital revealed the presence of the misplaced bandage, causing a severe infection. Despite treatment, Jyoti succumbed to her illness.
In response to the tragedy, Jyoti’s husband, Prajjwal, has filed a formal complaint against the hospital and medical staff involved in the Caesarean section. Authorities in Dehradun, India, have initiated an investigation into the matter following the unfortunate incident.
Medical officials have confirmed the launch of a probe into the alleged negligence that led to Jyoti’s death. The investigation, ordered on October 21, aims to uncover the circumstances surrounding the overlooked bandage during the childbirth surgery. A committee, headed by the district’s Chief Medical Officer, will conduct a thorough examination of the incident and is expected to release its findings soon.
The hospital, which has temporarily closed for the inquiry, has yet to respond to media queries regarding the situation. The investigation will also include a review of the hospital’s practices and procedures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
