“Burger King Announces Aggressive UK Expansion Plan”

Must read

Burger King, a major player in the fast-food industry, has revealed its ambitious expansion strategy in the UK, aiming to open 30 new locations annually. This plan is set to commence next year, with a specific focus on self-operated outlets rather than franchise-operated ones, adding to its current portfolio of 574 restaurants in the UK.

Despite economic challenges, Burger King reported robust sales, showcasing signs of progress within the business amid a more moderate inflation trend. CEO of Burger King UK, Alasdair Murdoch, acknowledged the impact of increased labor costs and consumer sentiment issues, linked to minimum wage hikes and last year’s Budget.

In a notable move, Burger King partnered with celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay to introduce an exclusive £11 wagyu burger earlier this year. The company’s financial performance in 2025 was described as strong, surpassing $1 billion in system-wide sales in the UK and expanding its franchise rights to the Republic of Ireland for the first time.

Financial results from the preceding year indicated a 7% revenue increase to £408.3 million, with underlying profits climbing by 12% to £26 million, attributed to effective cost management strategies. Mr. Murdoch expressed satisfaction with the company’s solid performance and strategic advancements in 2024, emphasizing revenue growth, positive sales trends, and enhanced operational efficiency despite economic challenges and cost pressures.
