“£1.5M Raised for Baby Ollie’s Life-Saving Heart Surgery”

Must read

A 14-month-old infant is set to undergo vital heart surgery after his mother successfully raised nearly £1.5 million for his medical treatment in the United States. Jasmin Roberts launched a fundraising campaign to cover the expenses for her son, Ollie, who was born with a rare and intricate heart condition called pulmonary atresia with ventricular septal defect and major aortopulmonary collateral arteries (PA-VSD MAPCAs), which could significantly reduce his lifespan without intervention.

The required funds were needed for the life-saving procedure at a specialized facility in Stanford, USA, as the National Health Service (NHS) in the UK could only provide palliative care. With over 90% of the target amount collected, Jasmin was able to secure a surgery date at the Stanford medical center upon reaching the 75% milestone. Ollie is scheduled for the surgery on January 23, 2026, once the full 100% is achieved.

The heartwarming support from the public, including 81,000 donations, propelled the campaign forward. Notable contributors like actor Ryan Reynolds and author Leigh Rivers, along with an anonymous donor, significantly boosted the fundraising efforts. Jasmin expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support that brought the total raised to £1.4 million, making the prospect of Ollie’s life-saving surgery closer to reality.

The surgery, consisting of a two-step heart repair process, is crucial for Ollie’s long-term health, with the initial phase to be completed in Stanford before the NHS takes over for the second part. Jasmin emphasized the need for the full funding to proceed with the surgery and urged for one final push to reach the target amount on the GoFundMe campaign. As the fundraising nears its goal, Jasmin remains hopeful for the successful completion of Ollie’s treatment, thanking everyone for their contributions and unwavering belief in saving her son’s life.

Those interested in supporting Baby Ollie’s surgery fundraiser can donate through the GoFundMe platform.
