Prince Harry is facing repercussions for his critical remarks about his scandal-ridden uncle, Prince Andrew, amid ongoing controversies surrounding the latter. Initially, when Meghan entered the Royal Family after marrying Harry, there was enthusiasm, with them, along with Prince William and Princess Kate, being dubbed the ‘Fab Four.’
However, despite their public charm offensive during official engagements, Harry and Meghan were privately struggling, with Meghan later disclosing her mental health issues, including suicidal thoughts. Tensions with other senior royals escalated, leading Harry to acknowledge that he and his brother were headed in different directions.
After expressing their desire to step back from full-time royal duties, the couple faced a swift removal of many royal privileges, including their police security. This contrasted sharply with Prince Andrew’s situation, as he found himself under renewed scrutiny for various scandals.
In his memoir, Harry revealed that he and Meghan were surprised by the withdrawal of their taxpayer-funded security in 2020, especially given the perceived threat level they faced. Fortunately, Hollywood figure Tyler Perry came to their aid, offering his private security team and residence.
Harry’s decision to ensure their security stemmed partly from the case of his disgraced uncle, Prince Andrew. Recently, Andrew announced relinquishing his duke title and royal honors following a conversation with his elder brother, King Charles, despite not being a working royal for six years.
Andrew’s withdrawal from public duties in 2019 followed a controversial interview addressing allegations of sexual assault and his association with Jeffrey Epstein. Notably, despite being embroiled in scandal, Andrew retained police security until 2022, with the late Queen continuing to cover his private security costs.
King Charles eventually ceased funding Andrew’s private security in 2024 to prompt his relocation from Royal Lodge. This move followed a period where the late Queen had been covering Andrew’s security expenses.
