Larry and Deborah Dutton, caring grandparents who had adopted their teenage granddaughter Heidi, provided a nurturing environment for her in Dewey, Oklahoma. Larry, a retired US Air Force master staff sergeant and former airport manager, and Deborah, also a retired Air Force member with a background in culinary arts, were married for 40 years and actively involved in church activities and local fundraisers. Their granddaughter, Heidi Dutton, 17 at the time, had been in a relationship with Lucas Walker, 20, which seemed to have a negative impact on her behavior.
Concerns arose in January 2023 when neighbors and family noticed the absence of Larry and Deborah since before Christmas. Several requests were made for a police welfare check on the couple’s property in Dewey, leading to a startling discovery.
