Jessica Ennis-Hill, the Olympic champion, will be participating in Kevin Sinfield’s fundraising endeavor for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in Sheffield. Ennis-Hill, a resident of Sheffield, has pledged to run alongside Sinfield during the fourth stage of his ‘7 in 7 Together’ challenge scheduled for Thursday.
Sinfield, who commenced his ambitious challenge on Monday, aims to complete an ultra marathon each day for a week. This marks Sinfield’s sixth consecutive annual initiative in support of MND charities. His previous efforts have raised over £10 million, contributing to the establishment of a pioneering center in Leeds, the first of its kind in the United Kingdom.
The former England and Leeds Rhinos star initiated these challenges following the diagnosis of his ex-teammate and close friend Rob Burrow with MND. Sinfield’s extraordinary dedication has garnered global acclaim, and Ennis-Hill’s involvement is set to significantly boost awareness for MND.
Ennis-Hill, a gold medalist in the heptathlon at the 2012 Olympics and a three-time world champion, transitioned into a successful media career post-retirement in 2016. She serves as a patron for various charities, including the Sheffield Children’s Hospital and Barrie Wells’ sports foundation.
Sinfield is steadfast in his pursuit of a cure for MND. Recent news of England World Cup victor Lewis Moody’s MND diagnosis has further underscored the importance of continuing the advocacy. Moody intends to host a fundraising dinner in April and organize a charity bike ride in 2026.
Following the Sheffield leg of the challenge, Sinfield will proceed to Cumbria, Scotland, and culminate the event in Leeds on Sunday. For further details on the challenge, visit https://www.therhinos.co.uk/the-club/sinfield-together-2025.
