“Energy Bills Slightly Rise Under New Ofgem Price Cap”

Must read

Today marks a slight increase in energy bills as the new Ofgem price cap takes effect.

Households paying via direct debit will experience a rise in their annual energy bill from £1,755 to £1,758 per year. The price cap sets limits on unit rates for gas and electricity, as well as standing charges.

The price cap does not establish a total cap on energy payments, as the final bill depends on actual energy usage. Individuals not on a fixed energy tariff fall under the price cap.

For those using pre-payment meters, the price cap rises from £1,707 to £1,711 annually, while those paying upon bill receipt will see an increase from £1,890 to £1,894 per year.

The price cap undergoes updates every three months, with the next revision scheduled for April 2026.
