Nigel Farage has expressed agreement with David Lammy’s criticism of a Reform MP’s outdated language. While standing in for Keir Starmer during PMQs, the Deputy Prime Minister called out the “racist” remarks made by Sarah Pochin on TalkTV last month.
Responding to a caller, Ms Pochin, the MP for Runcorn and Helsby, voiced her frustration about seeing advertisements featuring non-white individuals. David Lammy denounced her language as belonging to a bygone era.
During the session, Mr. Lammy highlighted the chaotic situation in Kent County Council under Reform’s governance, condemning the recent racist comment made by a Reform MP. Nigel Farage visibly nodded in agreement with Lammy’s statement.
In a separate exchange, Labour MP Tristan Osborne raised concerns about the troubled leadership of Kent County Council, associated with Reform UK. Ms. Pochin publicly apologized for her remarks, stating that they were poorly phrased and unintended to cause offense, although she stood by her view that many adverts do not accurately reflect British society.
The incident sparked a significant backlash, prompting Ms. Pochin to clarify her stance on the matter.
