The incident occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, in the southwest region of Nigeria, which is Joshua’s parents’ place of origin. He was traveling in a Jeep on Monday, December 29, following his recent victory over Jake Paul in a boxing match.

Reports indicate that Joshua, the former heavyweight champion, was seated in the back of the vehicle during the collision and sustained minor injuries. He has been taken to a hospital for treatment, while authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Eyewitnesses rendered assistance following the crash, with video footage showing Joshua being helped out of the vehicle. The footage depicts Joshua appearing to be in pain as he exits the wreckage.

According to local reports, the vehicle veered into a stationary truck after a tire blowout, leading to the loss of control and subsequent collision.

Eye-witnesses, including Adeniyi Orojo, provided an account of the incident to Punch Newspaper, detailing the occupants and events leading up to the crash.

Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, confirmed that Joshua was safe and en route to the hospital following the crash. Hearn, who was unaware of the incident until recently, is currently on vacation in the Caribbean.

The incident occurred shortly before the new year, with Joshua hinting at significant plans for the upcoming year as he reignites his rivalry with Tyson Fury.

In a post on Instagram following his recent victory, Joshua expressed gratitude to his supporters and teased upcoming events in the New Year, emphasizing unity and blessings for all.
