“EDF Offers Free Sunday Electricity for Reducing Weekday Usage”

Must read

EDF has reintroduced its Sunday Saver challenge for February, offering customers free electricity on Sundays in exchange for reducing their electricity usage during weekday peak hours of 4pm to 7pm. Participants can earn between four and 16 hours of free electricity the following Sunday by shifting their consumption habits. EDF customers with smart meters can enroll in the challenge until February 1, with four Sunday Saver events scheduled for February 15 and 22, and March 1 and 8.

According to EDF, over 260,000 households have already benefited from the Sunday Saver initiative, receiving a total of 17 million free hours of electricity, resulting in £5.2 million in bill credits. Additionally, more than 100,000 customers enjoyed eight hours of free electricity over the Christmas period, with EDF providing a total of 910,536 free hours of electricity to households.

One participant, Natasha Shields from Barnsley, South Yorkshire, has accumulated over 680 free hours on Sundays through the challenge. Shields shared that the Sunday Saver program has been helpful in managing the increasing cost of living, with her family adjusting their electricity usage habits to maximize the free electricity earned.

EDF’s Sales & Marketing Director, Jon Perks, emphasized the practicality of the Sunday Saver program in helping customers reduce costs during peak winter billing periods. By enabling households to monitor their energy usage through the Energy Hub, EDF aims to empower customers to make informed decisions that not only save costs but also contribute to a more sustainable electricity grid.

Customers can track their Sunday Saver progress via the Energy Hub on MyAccount, gaining insights into their household’s energy consumption patterns. Additionally, EDF is offering a £50 credit to both new and existing customers who sign up for any of its electric vehicle (EV) tariffs within the next month. These EV tariffs provide five hours of discounted electricity every night from 12am to 5am for both homes and electric vehicles, promoting energy efficiency and sustainability.
