Greene King is offering complimentary pints of Guinness this weekend to coincide with the start of the Six Nations rugby tournament. To get your free pint, simply reserve a table for any Six Nations match on February 7 through the Greene King website and present your booking confirmation at the bar.
This promotion is valid at all Greene King sports pubs, including Flaming Grill, Hungry Horse, and Belhaven, as part of their new Fans Reunited initiative featuring Rugby World Cup champions Martin Johnson and Jason Robinson.
Zoe Bowley, the Managing Director of Greene King pubs, expressed, “Fans Reunited highlights the significant role of sports and the pub environment in uniting people. By launching during the Guinness Six Nations and offering fans a free pint, we aim to facilitate reunions where old friends can reconnect over a drink.”
Former rugby star Martin Johnson commented, “Rugby has a special way of bringing people together. Friendships forged through sports are enduring, and Greene King’s Fans Reunited campaign celebrates these lasting connections.”
Moreover, the Treasury recently announced a 15% reduction in business rates for pubs and music venues starting in April as part of a substantial support package. This move follows pressure on the government to act following budget adjustments and the conclusion of pandemic assistance.
Treasury minister Dan Tomlinson revealed that the average pub could save £1,650 in business rates next year, with music venues also benefiting from the relief. Emma McClarkin, chief executive of the BBPA, applauded the government’s decision, stating that the pub-specific aid will alleviate financial burdens and help sustain local establishments.
