Vladimir Putin has openly admitted that he deliberately allowed a NATO spy vessel to monitor Russia’s recent nuclear missile test in order to showcase his possession of “the most powerful long-range weapon globally.” The Russian leader also raised concerns about a potential World War 3 scenario by announcing the development of even more formidable nuclear missiles. Putin claimed that Russia’s Burevestnik nuclear missile, dubbed the ‘Flying Chernobyl,’ exceeded all other missile systems worldwide, flying 8,700 miles during a 15-hour test in the Arctic.
During an event where he awarded top honors to the scientists behind the new nuclear Burevestnik and Poseidon missile systems, Putin highlighted the superior range and precision of the Burevestnik missile. He mentioned that a NATO reconnaissance ship was continuously present during the Burevestnik test, emphasizing that Russia did not interfere with the vessel’s activities.
The Burevestnik missile, constructed by a large workforce of Russian scientists and laborers, is designed to remain airborne for extended periods before targeting enemy vulnerabilities. Putin also commended his new Poseidon underwater drone, which operates with its atomic reactor and purportedly has the capability to induce radioactive tidal waves in Western nations.
Despite the potency of these weapons, Putin revealed plans for a forthcoming generation of weapons, including nuclear-powered cruise missiles, with speeds surpassing three times the speed of sound and a potential for future hypersonic capabilities. He assured Russia’s leading munitions experts that this new weaponry is not just theoretical but actively advancing through development stages.
The Russian leader emphasized that the technology used in these weapons could also benefit space and Arctic exploration, as well as offer civilian advantages to Russia, which lags behind Western countries in living standards. He mentioned that mini nuclear reactors could serve as energy sources for challenging environments, including the Arctic, while also providing essential services like light and heat to remote areas.
Despite his declarations regarding nuclear armament, Putin faced a setback when Ukraine targeted the headquarters of his elite Rubicon drone unit in the occupied Avdiyivka region of Donetsk. The strike by Ukraine’s GUR military intelligence agency eliminated officers and operators within the Rubicon center, known for its utilization of unmanned systems in Russia’s conflict with Ukraine.
Additionally, Ukraine carried out explosions at multiple Russian power plants in the Oryol and Vladimir regions as part of continued hostilities between the two nations.
