Alanis Morissette has taken legal action against her former tour manager, accusing her of attempting to extort her into signing an extended contract by threatening to falsely implicate her in drug trafficking. The Canadian singer-songwriter filed a lawsuit in California, alleging that Keren Urinov demanded a lengthy employment contract and substantial compensation under the threat of reporting Morissette to British authorities for drug-related offenses.
Urinov, who previously worked for Live Nation’s Israeli branch, was hired as a temporary tour manager for Morissette’s global tour in 2025. During a trip from the U.K. to Spain, Urinov was allegedly arrested at an airport after authorities found drugs in her possession, but she was released after showing her medical marijuana license.
Following the tour, Urinov reportedly sent a series of threatening letters to Morissette, demanding a long-term contract with generous financial terms. Morissette claims that Urinov’s management of the tour was subpar, citing instances of financial mismanagement and dishonesty about her criminal history.
Despite being hesitant, Morissette felt compelled to take legal action against Urinov, stating that she refuses to be coerced into a long-term agreement with someone she deems incompetent and manipulative. Morissette is seeking a trial by jury in this ongoing legal dispute. Requests for comments from Urinov and Morissette’s representatives have not been answered as of yet.
