Tyson Fury Announces Retirement from Boxing

Must read

Tyson Fury has declared that he will not step into the boxing ring again, contradicting previous plans for a comeback. The announcement comes shortly after his decision to retire in January following a defeat to Oleksandr Usyk, marking his fourth retirement from the sport.

Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh recently revealed that Fury, aged 36, was expected to end his retirement and return to boxing. Alalshikh expressed enthusiasm about Fury’s comeback, stating that the “Gypsy King” had confirmed his participation in Riyadh Season in 2026.

Initially, there were talks of a trilogy fight between Fury and Usyk at Wembley Stadium in April 2026. However, Fury has now reversed his decision during an event at Doncaster Racecourse. When questioned about his boxing return, Fury told Sky Sports that he has no intention of fighting again, emphasizing that boxing is a young man’s game and citing his age as a factor.

During his appearance at Doncaster Racecourse, Fury was being filmed for his documentary series, “At Home With The Furys.” Cameras followed Fury as he watched his racehorse, Big Gypsy King, compete in the Unison Campaigning For Public Services Handicap, where the filly finished in 11th place after a disappointing performance.

Trained by Oliver Cole in Newmarket, Big Gypsy King had its first win at Chelmsford in May. Fury, along with his manager Spencer Brown, has ventured into horse racing in the National Hunt side, focusing on jumps racing. Notably, top bloodstock agent Jerry McGrath acquired Cossack Chach and Sea The Clouds at the Goffs UK October Sale in Doncaster last year, making strategic investments in the racing industry.

In a separate development, Sky has reduced the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season, offering savings of £336 and access to over 1,400 live matches, including Premier League and EFL games. Sky is set to broadcast a minimum of 215 live Premier League matches next season, a significant increase from previous seasons.
