UK Faces Heavy Rain and Unpredictable Weather Ahead

Must read

New weather forecasts indicate that the current sunny period will come to an end soon, with heavy rainfall expected to hit the UK. Recent weather conditions have been highly unpredictable, with the Met Office issuing warnings due to heavy rain and daytime temperatures dropping below 20C for the first time in weeks. The upcoming days are expected to continue this trend of unpredictability.

According to the latest WXCharts maps, a significant rainy system is approaching the UK from the west and is projected to bring over an inch of rainfall across various regions in a short span of time. The weather service, utilizing data from MetDesk, predicts that the rainy system will reach the UK by the morning on Wednesday, September 13.

The rain is expected to start on the west coast of Scotland around 6am, affecting areas like Galloway Forest Park, the Outer Hebrides, and Achmelvich on the far northeast coast. By 9am, the showers will move further eastward, reaching inland areas of Scotland and the south coast near the Isle of Wight. Rain intensity is expected to increase by 3pm, with Wales and Scotland experiencing around 3mm of rain per hour.

By 6pm, the showers will cover England, Scotland, and Wales, with Birmingham and Manchester likely to experience the heaviest rainfall in England. In Scotland, Edinburgh is expected to be hit hardest by the rain, which is forecasted to continue until 9pm, resulting in a total rainfall of up to 30mm on September 13, equivalent to approximately 1.18 inches.

The Met Office’s long-range forecast suggests that the unsettled weather on Wednesday will persist throughout the week, with heavy rain, showers, and strong winds expected. The forecast indicates that the UK will experience periods of showers or rain, particularly in the west and north, with the possibility of thunderstorms, hail, and strong winds. Later in the forecast period, drier spells may occur, especially in the south, accompanied by sunshine due to higher pressure. Temperature fluctuations are expected to be near average or slightly below, with occasional rises during drier, sunnier periods.
