“Public Divorce Announcement Follows ‘Kiss Cam’ Incident”

Must read

The spouse of a woman who was captured on Coldplay’s ‘kiss cam’ cozying up with her supervisor has stated that they had already agreed to separate privately and amicably before the concert took place.

Kirsten Cabot and her husband Andrew Cabot, 61, made public their decision to divorce a few weeks after she was seen with her boss Andy Bryon at a concert by the band.

The video clip made rounds on social media, leading to Andy stepping down from his position as CEO of tech company Astronomer, and Kirstin resigning from her role as Head of HR.

Nevertheless, following the divorce confirmation, Andrew, an entrepreneur from Massachusetts, revealed that he and Kirstin had been privately and amicably separated several weeks before the Coldplay event.

A representative speaking on his behalf to the media stated, “Their divorce process had already begun before that night. With the public announcement of the divorce, Andrew wishes to end speculation respectfully and allow his family the privacy they cherish.”

Kirstin’s on-screen interaction with her manager gained global attention, with even Coldplay’s lead singer Chris Martin joking about the situation. Shortly after the incident, both employees were placed on leave, and Andy later resigned from the company for not meeting the company’s standards.

Despite the clarity on the divorce situation, Andrew’s spokesperson mentioned, “No further comments will be given to the public.”

This is the first time Kirstin’s husband has made a public statement, albeit through a spokesperson, regarding the controversy surrounding his and Kirstin’s relationship.

Andrew, who is the CEO of a distillery in Ipswich, Massachusetts, does not have children with Kirstin but has two children from a previous marriage. He emphasized the importance of privacy for his family, which was somewhat compromised during the scandal.

Both Kirstin and her manager reacted uncomfortably when they were featured on the kiss cam during the concert. Kirstin turned away quickly, while he moved out of sight.

The incident sparked numerous memes and criticisms, drawing national attention to the former colleagues for several days. Many online users shared personal information about both of their families.

The viral moment triggered debates on privacy in the digital age and the boundaries of public scrutiny regarding personal conduct.

In a press release in November announcing Cabot’s initial role at Astronomer, Byron praised her exceptional leadership and expertise in talent management, employee engagement, and people strategy scaling as crucial for the company’s growth.
