Emergency services swiftly responded to an incident at an abandoned silo in Merseyside after reports surfaced of an individual falling 30 feet inside. The location of the incident was Woodend Avenue near the intersection with Speke Boulevard during the evening. Paramedics were observed attending to a facility behind Dugdale Nutrition, while law enforcement personnel were spotted inside the industrial building on the second level.
A section of Speke Boulevard was cordoned off in front of Dugdale Nutrition, as emergency services, as per LiverpoolEcho, were actively engaged in the rescue operation for the fallen person. Firefighters, equipped with harnesses, were seen making their way to the site where the emergency response was underway.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service issued a statement confirming their involvement, stating that they were summoned to a factory on Woodend Avenue in Speke, Liverpool. The incident was reported at 7:08 pm with the fire crew’s prompt arrival at 7:13 pm, deploying two fire engines alongside the search and rescue team. Merseyside Police and the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) were also present at the scene. Upon arrival, it was discovered that the individual had fallen around thirty feet into the empty silo. The search and rescue team planned to establish a rope system to lower a member of the NWAS Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), equipped with breathing apparatus, through an access hatch to assess the condition of the casualty.
Furthermore, gas readings indicated normal levels, and Merseyside Police managed an outer cordon around the premises for safety measures. The situation remains ongoing, as stated by the authorities.
