Mitchum Deodorant Recall: Rash Reports Spark Concern

Must read

Deodorant maker Mitchum has advised customers to check the batch numbers on their products as it works to pull them from shelves following reports of injuries. The company issued an apology after customers complained of developing painful and itchy rashes under their arms. Those experiencing irritation have been urged to immediately discontinue use of the affected deodorant.

Consumers have taken to social media platforms like TikTok to share videos and photos showing inflamed armpits after using certain roll-on deodorants from the brand. While some speculated the issue stemmed from ingredient changes, Mitchum clarified that it was actually due to a modification in the manufacturing process of one of its raw materials.

Acknowledging reports of temporary irritation from the use of specific batches of its 48-hour 100ml roll-on deodorant in the UK, Ireland, and South Africa, Mitchum expressed regret for any impact and delay in investigating the matter. However, an Instagram post addressing the issue received backlash from dissatisfied customers who expressed concerns about severe skin reactions, with some vowing never to purchase Mitchum products again.

The company admitted that the manufacturing change had affected how the product interacts with the skin for some users, falling short of their standards. Mitchum assured customers that they had reverted to the original process to ensure future batches meet expected quality levels. To identify affected products, customers are advised to check the batch number at the bottom of the bottle, clarifying that only specific batches have been impacted.

Mitchum assured that the issue had been resolved, with efforts underway to remove any remaining affected products from shelves. Customers experiencing problems were encouraged to contact the Customer Care team for assistance, with instructions to discontinue product use immediately and reach out for further support.
