The BBC is reportedly in negotiations for a lucrative deal to launch a new talk show featuring a star from the popular series “Celebrity Traitors.” Alan Carr, known for his past show “Chatty Man” on Channel 4, is said to be exploring the possibility of hosting a new chat show following his success on “Traitors.” Alongside Jonathan Ross and singer Cat Burns, Alan is part of the cast on the BBC program. Despite being a “Traitor” on the show, Alan has managed to maintain his cover without being discovered.
A source revealed that Alan’s charisma and extensive network could attract top-tier guests to his potential show. The BBC is eager to retain him as a key asset from “Traitors.” While there were discussions about a joint project with Jonathan Ross, the latter recently extended his contract for his own chat show, making a collaboration less likely.
“Celebrity Traitors” has garnered significant viewership, emerging as the most-watched unscripted show since 2022. The series premiere drew nearly 12 million viewers, with over half watching the first episode live. The show features celebrities eliminating each other, with notable figures like Paloma Faith, Tom Daley, and Ruth Codd being “eliminated.”
Viewers are eagerly anticipating the outcome of the competition, where one celebrity will win up to £100,000 for charity. The show airs on Wednesdays and Thursdays and will conclude with a special 70-minute episode in early November. However, some fans have expressed frustration over the limited weekly episodes, wishing for a more frequent schedule.
In a schedule adjustment, “Celebrity Traitors” is now airing on Wednesdays and Thursdays to accommodate Steve Coogan’s new series “How Are You? It’s Alan (Partridge)” on Fridays at 9 pm on BBC One. Some viewers have voiced disappointment on social media about the reduced frequency of episodes. The BBC has been approached for comment on the matter.
