Aldi has announced a comprehensive list of over 20 stores set to undergo significant enhancements by the year’s end.
The popular supermarket chain has disclosed that Barrow-in-Furness in Cumbria and Ebbw Vale in Wales will witness extensions between now and December. Additionally, 21 other Aldi stores are slated for various upgrades, including revamped fixtures, improved layouts, and sustainability features.
Having already completed upgrades in over 500 stores, Aldi has implemented modernized layouts, increased space for fresh and chilled products, and enhanced aisle brightness in its locations.
Jonathan Neale, the Managing Director of National Real Estate at Aldi UK, emphasized the commitment to providing an exceptional shopping experience for customers through ongoing investments in store estates. By extending and refreshing existing sites, Aldi aims to offer more sustainable and convenient stores to cater to community needs effectively.
In line with its expansion strategy, Aldi plans to open approximately 40 new branches in the UK this year, with a long-term goal of reaching 1,500 stores. The company has released a revised list of priority locations for new stores, highlighting requirements for store size, parking spaces, and accessibility.
Aldi is actively seeking suitable sites for its Aldi Local store format in Central London zones one and two, with specific size criteria for trading and ancillary space. Mr. Neale reiterated Aldi’s mission to provide high-quality food at competitive prices, underscoring the brand’s dedication to expanding its store network and enhancing customer experiences nationwide.
