Amazon has announced that the Alexa+ platform, an enhanced version of the popular voice assistant, is now available in the UK for users of Echo smart speakers. Alexa+ offers a more conversational experience, adapting its tone based on user interactions and learning individual preferences, including music, books, and food preferences.
The upgraded platform allows for personalized recommendations tailored to the user’s interests, such as film suggestions, recipes, and sports updates. Users can also utilize Alexa+ to create shopping lists, track prices, receive delivery alerts, and compare products through online reviews.
Moreover, Alexa+ enables seamless control of smart home devices through voice commands, allowing users to execute various actions like adjusting lights and checking the weather forecast without the need to access the Alexa app.
In addition, Alexa+ simplifies the management of whole-home speaker setups, enabling users to direct music playback to specific areas of the house effortlessly. The platform has been optimized to understand British communication nuances, ensuring a more tailored experience for UK users.
Meryem Tom, Director of Alexa UK, highlighted the importance of cultural nuances in creating a personalized experience, emphasizing the platform’s ability to adapt to regional expressions and individual preferences.
To address privacy concerns, Amazon has incorporated robust privacy features into Alexa+, including the Alexa Privacy dashboard, which allows users to review and manage their interactions with the platform. Users have control over their voice recordings and can access detailed information through the Alexa app and online.
Early Access to Alexa+ is currently available in the UK, with a free trial period for some users. Following the Early Access phase, the platform will be available for £19.99 per month, with Prime members retaining free access. Amazon plans to extend Early Access invitations to hundreds of thousands of customers in the upcoming weeks.
