“Amazon Web Services Outage Impacts Major Platforms”

Must read

Numerous websites and applications are currently experiencing disruptions due to a widespread Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage. AWS, which underpins many digital platforms, is encountering difficulties, causing a significant impact on various online services.

Affected platforms include Snapchat, Slack, Ring, Signal, Virgin Media, BT, EE, Sky, and major UK banks such as Lloyds, Halifax, Bank of Scotland, and the HMRC website. AWS has acknowledged the issue’s root cause and reports that most services are gradually recovering. A recent update states that services reliant on US-EAST-1 have also been restored, with efforts ongoing for full resolution.

The situation prompted a surge in outage reports on Downdetector, with over 2,681 reports related to AWS on Monday morning. HMRC and Lloyds Bank confirmed the disruptions, with HMRC urging customers to be patient due to the high call volumes and Lloyds apologizing for the inconvenience while working to restore services promptly.
