“Android Users Urged to Install Critical Security Update Now”

Must read

A crucial alert has been issued to all Android users this week, emphasizing the importance of a recently released security update by Google. This update addresses six significant issues within the Android operating system, with some of the bugs classified as ‘critical,’ indicating an urgent need for installation.

Adam Boynton, Senior Security Strategy Manager EMEIA at Jamf, highlighted the importance of these fixes, particularly CVE‑2025‑48530, a severe vulnerability that could enable remote code execution without user interaction. This vulnerability poses a serious risk as it could allow hackers to take control of a device without the owner’s knowledge.

Additionally, the update addresses a security flaw identified by Qualcomm that could be exploited for targeted attacks, posing a notable threat. Qualcomm noted that certain vulnerabilities, such as CVE-2025-21479, CVE-2025-21480, and CVE-2025-27038, may be subject to limited, targeted exploitation.

Google has already provided patches for issues affecting the Adreno Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) driver to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in May, urging them to deploy the updates promptly on affected devices. While there is no confirmation of consumer impact or hacker attacks yet, it is strongly advised not to overlook this update and maintain vigilance.

Pixel phones are expected to receive the update first, followed by other manufacturers rolling out their respective fixes in the upcoming weeks. Users are encouraged to regularly check for system updates and promptly install them to ensure their devices are shielded against current and future security threats.
