Apple has released an upgraded version of its popular AirTag tracker, featuring an enhanced Ultra Wideband chip that extends its range. This latest model promises up to 50% better Precision Finding, enabling users to locate lost items from greater distances. Additionally, select Apple Watch models now support Precision Finding, allowing for tracking directly from the wrist.
Improving on the original design, the new AirTag boasts a redesigned internal speaker that emits sounds 50% louder than before, aiding in easier locating of misplaced items. Maintaining its reliance on Apple’s Find My network, AirTags ensure privacy by not storing location history on the device and using end-to-end encryption for secure communication with the network.
Incorporating the Share Item Location feature, users can securely share an item’s location with trusted parties, such as airlines, for recovering lost belongings. Apple has collaborated with over 50 airlines to support this functionality. The new AirTag is now available for purchase on Apple’s official website and app, with prices starting at £29 for a single unit or £99 for a pack of four, offering a more affordable option compared to the original launch price of £35.
This latest iteration enhances the user experience and functionality of the AirTag, making it a valuable tool for tracking and locating important items efficiently.
