A young man’s life took a dramatic turn when he won a whopping £450,000 after spending just £30 on raffle tickets during a pub quiz celebration marking the end of his apprenticeship.
James Manley was left in disbelief when he learned he had won a competition that would enable him to buy his first home. The 23-year-old had been working hard as a software developer apprentice for five years and was eager to secure his own place.
Living with his parents in Elephant and Castle, London, James felt overwhelmed balancing his job, studies, and caring for his parents who had mobility issues. Intrigued by success stories of real people owning homes through property raffles, James decided to take a chance on a Tramway Path competition.
During a pub quiz with colleagues, James received the life-changing call informing him of his win. Initially thinking it was a work-related call, he was stunned to hear he was the lucky winner, causing his legs to turn to jelly with shock.
This win was James’ third attempt at the Tramway Path raffle. Overwhelmed with emotions, he rushed home to share the news with his skeptical parents, who initially doubted the legitimacy of the prize. After meeting with the competition organizers, the Twenefour brothers, James decided to accept the £450,000 cash prize to purchase his first home close to his family and workplace.
James recently bought a two-bedroom flat on the same street as his parents, following advice from the competition organizers. Thrilled with his new home, he encourages others to take similar chances for a shot at life-changing opportunities.
Tramway Path is currently running a competition offering a two-bedroom apartment in Sidcup, South East London, or £400,000 in cash. Co-founder Daniel Twenefour expressed gratitude for being able to help first-time buyers onto the property ladder, acknowledging the challenges faced by young individuals in the housing market.
The ongoing competition accepts entries until November 17, with ticket prices starting at £10 for 10 entries.
