Must read

Ten individuals were swiftly taken to the hospital following a balcony collapse on the third floor of an apartment building close to the University of Cincinnati. Emergency services were called to the scene on Stetson Street in Cincinnati, Ohio, where approximately 20 people were on the balcony when it gave way during a late-night celebration. According to Cincinnati Police Department Capt. Stephen Bower, one person suffered life-threatening injuries.

Lindsay Lomax, a representative from the Cincinnati Fire Department, stated that ten students were transported to local hospitals, with one victim in critical condition, five others sustaining serious but non-life-threatening injuries, and the rest with minor injuries. The injured students have not been publicly identified.

Although the apartment building is not directly affiliated with the university, it accommodates numerous University of Cincinnati students. Footage following the incident depicted the balcony collapsed on the ground outside the building, with some parts still hanging from the third floor. Debris, including alcohol cans and a cigarette carton, fell to the ground during the collapse. The cause of the collapse remains under investigation.

Efforts to obtain comments from the Cincinnati Police and Fire Department, as well as the University of Cincinnati, are ongoing.
