Bernie Ecclestone recently sold a yacht named after his daughters, Petra and Tamara, following his wife Fabiana’s revelation that they only used it for eight days annually. Additionally, another smaller yacht owned by the Formula 1 mogul, located in Ibiza, is also on the market, distinct from the “Petara” yacht situated in Croatia.
During an interview on his 95th birthday, Ecclestone disclosed the sale, stating, “We just sold it.” Fabiana elaborated, “We only used it for eight days a year. We don’t require such a large yacht for that purpose.”
Earlier this year, Ecclestone also parted ways with his collection of F1 cars, selling them to Red Bull co-owner Mark Mateschitz for approximately £550 million. This transaction occurred 18 months after settling with HMRC for over £500 million due to a failure to declare £400 million in overseas assets.
Despite these sales, Ecclestone and his family maintain a net worth exceeding £1.8 billion, as reported by Forbes. Alongside his third wife, Fabiana, aged 49, and their five-year-old son, Ace, Ecclestone resides in the Swiss Alps resort town of Gstaad.
Regarding his birthday celebrations, Ecclestone mentioned, “My daughters wanted a grand party. I prefer flying with Fabi and Ace to my ranch in Brazil.”
Ecclestone’s eldest daughter from his first marriage, Deborah, recently visited him in Gstaad, turning 70 herself. Fabiana reflected on their relationship, stating, “We’ve been married for 13 years, together for 16. Our parenting of Ace is going well.”
Explaining their shared approach to parenting, Ecclestone emphasized, “Bernie and I are a team, raising Ace together. We maintain discipline with him calmly and firmly.”
Fabiana added, “It’s challenging to limit Ace’s screen time compared to his classmates. We believe introducing a cell phone around age 12 or 14 is appropriate.”
Ecclestone praised Ace, describing him as bright, intelligent, and full of potential. Fabiana noted, “Ace enjoys skiing since the age of two and has a broad palate, loving sushi.”
