“Daycare Worker Arrested for Allegedly Abusing Infant”

Must read

A worker at a daycare center has been arrested for allegedly abusing a one-year-old child, causing severe injuries on the child’s first day at the facility.

Yvette Thurston, aged 54, faces charges of first-degree child abuse and first-degree aggravated battery following the reported incident on August 11 at Little Blessings Child Care in Bainbridge, where she was responsible for looking after the infant, Clay Weeks.

Clay’s parents discovered their son had sustained significant injuries while at the daycare, including a bruised eye and multiple cuts on his face and around his mouth.

Cory Weeks, a US Marine and the child’s father, shared distressing photos on social media, revealing that initially, the daycare claimed another child had accidentally caused the injuries. However, surveillance footage obtained by the parents allegedly showed Thurston physically assaulting their child.

Thurston was released on bail on August 16, which resulted in Chief Magistrate Ann Marie Rose-Emmons receiving death threats.

District Attorney Joe Mulholland strongly condemned the threats made against the magistrate, emphasizing that the safety of children and the integrity of the justice system are paramount. He warned that any individual making threats would face severe consequences under the law.

Cory Weeks also expressed his commitment to seeking justice for his child, acknowledging the legal process and urging everyone to allow the authorities to fulfill their duties in the case.
