“Emma Raducanu Finishes 2025 Season at World No. 29”

Must read

Emma Raducanu has achieved one of her seasonal objectives as the WTA Tour season concludes. The British tennis star ended her season prematurely in early October due to health issues.

Raducanu’s season had its ups and downs. She secured notable victories at Wimbledon and the US Open, reclaiming her status as Britain’s No. 1 player. However, she faced fitness challenges towards the end, notably at the Ningbo Open where she required medical attention and lost her first-round match in three sets.

Consequently, after facing various obstacles, Raducanu made the decision to end her season early while confirming that she would continue working with coach Francisco Roig in 2026. This choice jeopardized her goal of being seeded for the Australian Open.

Having withdrawn from her last two tournaments of the year while ranked 29th, Raducanu’s aspiration to be in the top 32 was uncertain. Her inability to earn more ranking points following her withdrawal left her awaiting confirmation on achieving this milestone.

With the season now concluded, Raducanu finished the year ranked world No. 29. Barring a tough start in the early 2026 events, she is likely to be seeded in Melbourne.

In early October, Raducanu expressed her ambition to be seeded at the Australian Open and elaborated on the significance of this goal. She emphasized the importance of a high ranking for improved draw placement and the need to give her best in all situations to enhance her chances.

Additionally, Raducanu highlighted the importance of being a role model and inspiring younger generations. She stressed the need to maintain a positive attitude on and off the court, setting a good example for aspiring players.

Currently, Raducanu stands as the only British player within the top 32 of the WTA rankings. The year’s rankings were led by Aryna Sabalenka as world No. 1, followed by Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, with Amanda Anisimova rounding off the top four.

In a related development, Sky has discounted its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season, offering savings of £192 and showcasing over 1,400 live matches across various leagues, including the Premier League and EFL. Sky plans to broadcast a minimum of 215 live Premier League games in the upcoming season, marking an increase of up to 100 more matches.
