In West Sussex, a girl fell victim to three generations of her own family, enduring sexual abuse.
Hove Crown Court was informed that the girl faced sexual assaults from her father, grandfather, and brothers, coupled with instances of child cruelty by her mother.
Six individuals have been convicted of 39 offenses against two young siblings within the family, as disclosed by Sussex Police. Among them, two were found guilty of perverting justice. The victims received continuous support from specialized officers and partner organizations throughout the inquiry.
The revelation of the abuse occurred when the older sister confided in a school staff member. Subsequently, the younger sister disclosed being a victim of assault and neglect by their parents.
The trial commenced on September 16, resulting in the defendants being convicted on 39 out of 42 charges. The defendants are to remain in custody until the 2026 sentencing.
To protect the victims’ identities, Sussex Police collaborated with the media for the case’s coverage. Due to legal constraints, the names and identities of the defendants cannot be disclosed.
Detective Superintendent Andrew Harbour stated, “This investigation, which has been intricate, deeply impacted the two victims. Our primary concern remains their well-being and protection during this profoundly distressing case.
“We have collaborated with partner agencies to ensure ongoing safeguarding of the young victims. Sussex Police prioritizes combatting violence against women and girls, urging all victims of rape and serious sexual offenses to come forward.
“Our officers relentlessly pursued justice in this case, and we are gratified by the jury’s guilty verdicts. We caution the public against speculating online about the case, as it could jeopardize the victims’ legal right to anonymity.”
