A family’s holiday escape turned into a nightmare when two intruders committed a heinous act. Kaye and Rolf Tiede, accompanied by their daughters Linae and Tricia and Kaye’s mother, Beth Potts, visited a charming cabin in the snowy mountains just before Christmas. Unbeknownst to them, two recently released ex-convicts, Edward Steven Deli and Von Lester Taylor, had broken in with intentions of theft.
Upon the family’s arrival at the secluded cabin in Utah, the intruders held them at gunpoint, leading to a tragic and violent encounter. Despite pleas for mercy from the family, the situation escalated into gunfire, resulting in the deaths of Kaye and Beth. Rolf survived a gunshot to the face due to the type of ammunition used.
Subsequently, Rolf had to feign death as the assailants set the cabin ablaze, leaving his daughters captive. The girls were coerced into loading snowmobiles at gunpoint, with the criminals forcing them to drive away. The sisters, under duress, managed to escape and were rescued by authorities after a pursuit.
The perpetrators were eventually apprehended, and the surviving family members sought to rebuild and overcome the tragedy. The attackers received legal consequences, with Taylor sentenced to death and Deli to life imprisonment. Despite the ordeal, the family found solace in rebuilding their cabin and moving forward, reflecting on their resilience in the face of adversity.
