A mother of four was fatally shot by her former boyfriend, who was described as being fixated on her, and abandoned her in a shopping center parking lot. Savannah Kulla, aged 29, was tragically discovered deceased outside a mall in Brampton, Ontario. The perpetrator, Anthony Deschepper, 38, allegedly left her there after abducting Savannah and their one-year-old child. Fortunately, the infant was later found unharmed with relatives, who reported that Deschepper had left the child with them.
Authorities swiftly issued an alert and commenced a search for the suspect, who was ultimately located at a gas station in Niagara Falls by local police and Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit in the early hours of Wednesday. The encounter between Deschepper and law enforcement resulted in the man being fatally shot by a police officer. Despite efforts by paramedics, Deschepper succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Further examination through a post-mortem procedure is scheduled for the deceased.
At the scene, a firearm was discovered, although no evidence suggested that Deschepper had discharged the weapon. Additionally, a woman associated with Deschepper, whose identity remains undisclosed, was found and arrested at the location. Allegedly, she was driving the vehicle in which Deschepper was traveling before the incident.
Savannah’s grieving mother, Karen, revealed that her daughter had recently ended her relationship with Deschepper, expressing concerns about his intense infatuation with her. Karen disclosed that Savannah had repeatedly tried to distance herself from him, finally ending the relationship over the weekend prior to the tragic events. Describing Savannah as a dedicated mother and high achiever, Karen emphasized her daughter’s love for her children.
It was confirmed that Savannah and Deschepper shared a one-year-old child, while Savannah’s three sons are in the care of their father, her ex-partner. Karen expressed relief at Deschepper’s demise, particularly due to concerns about the safety of her grandchildren in his presence.
Following the heartbreaking incident, a GoFundMe campaign was initiated by one of Savannah’s childhood friends to support her children. The fundraiser highlighted Savannah’s profound love for her children and the irreplaceable void left by her untimely passing. Family members are committed to ensuring that Savannah’s children receive the care, stability, and love she would have provided every day.
