A 12-year-old girl endured a horrific experience of rape, torture, and murder. Lola Daviet’s lifeless body was discovered in a suitcase in Paris, leading to the arrest of Dahbia Benkired, then aged 24. Benkired has now made history as the first woman in France to receive a life sentence without parole for these appalling crimes.
The disturbing details of Lola’s final moments have been unveiled in court. Lola, who enjoyed camping trips with her family, encountered Benkired, a homeless Algerian immigrant, outside her apartment building. Surveillance footage captured Benkired entering the building without authorization and lingering in the hallways.
The last images of Lola show her encountering Benkired and following her down a corridor. Subsequently, Benkired admitted in court that she lured Lola, restrained her, and ultimately took her life.
After subjecting the girl to a forced shower and sexual assault, Benkired used tape to bind Lola, leading to her suffocation. Benkired then abandoned the child in the entrance hall, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Following the heinous act, Benkired assaulted Lola with a knife and scissors, causing severe injuries before concealing the body in a large plastic case. She then attempted to dispose of the evidence by leaving the scene with suitcases and dragging the suitcase containing Lola’s remains.
During the trial, Benkired was condemned as a “monster devil” by Lola’s family and was sentenced to life imprisonment for her monstrous deeds. Notable individuals serving similar sentences include Salah Abdeslam, a Belgian terrorist involved in the ISIS attacks that claimed 130 lives in Paris in 2015.
