Lewis Hamilton’s performance in the 2025 Formula 1 season has been a mix of highs and lows, showcasing glimpses of his exceptional talent while struggling to find consistency since moving to Ferrari from Mercedes.
Despite his on-track challenges, Hamilton continues to uphold his values off the track, particularly his strong advocacy for environmental and social causes. In a bold move reflecting his commitment, he sold his custom Pagani Zonda 760 LH, a prized possession, which was later wrecked by the new owner after a profitable resale.
The unique supercar, tailored to Hamilton’s specifications in 2014, boasted a powerful 7.3-liter V12 engine generating 760 horsepower. Featuring a striking purple design with carbon fiber details and a rare manual transmission – a personal touch by Hamilton, it stood out as the first Zonda 760 to forgo automatic transmission.
Originally priced at approximately £1.6 million, the car held a special place in Hamilton’s £12.5 million supercar collection. Despite its impressive aesthetics and performance, Hamilton criticized its handling as “terrible.”
Driven by his deepening environmental consciousness, Hamilton made the tough decision in 2021 to prioritize eco-friendly practices, opting to use his electric Mercedes EQC over his supercars. This shift in lifestyle reflects his dedication to reducing his carbon footprint.
Having divested the Zonda due to its carbon-intensive nature, Hamilton made a substantial profit of £6.9 million, selling it for £8.5 million. However, the car met an unfortunate fate in 2023 when its new owner crashed it in Wales, resulting in significant damage that required extensive repairs.
Fortunately, the Zonda has since been meticulously restored to its former glory, showcasing its unique features once again. As one of only five Zonda 760 models ever produced, it serves as a testament to both Pagani’s craftsmanship and Hamilton’s astute decision-making, both on and off the race track.
Despite his challenges at Ferrari, Hamilton has yet to secure a podium finish this season, with fourth-place achievements in various races. Currently ranked sixth in the Drivers’ Championship, he trails leader Oscar Piastri by a substantial margin and faces stiff competition from his teammate Charles Leclerc and others.
