“ITV Celebrates 70 Years Amid Layoffs”

Must read

London’s iconic Guildhall set the scene for a glamorous event on Monday evening to commemorate ITV’s 70 years in broadcasting. A plethora of presenters, actors, and TV personalities came together to honor the channel’s extensive history. Notable guests included the hosts of This Morning, Cat Deeley, and Olivia Attwood.

Cat Deeley, 48, who recently announced her separation from husband Patrick Kielty, dazzled in a vibrant orange long-sleeved mini-dress that accentuated her long legs. The mother-of-two exuded joy as she posed alongside her co-host Ben Shephard, who looked sharp in a navy suit.

During the event, Cat shared her thoughts on ITV’s milestone, expressing, “It’s incredible to commemorate so many years of ITV. I’ve been fortunate to be part of its journey, and it’s delightful to see many familiar faces from the network gathered here tonight.”

Olivia Attwood, 34, a recent addition to the This Morning hosting team, captured attention with her stylish ensemble. The former Love Island star opted for a chic white oversized blazer paired with a busty crop top and high-waisted trousers.

Recognized for her glamorous Ibiza snapshots with Pete Wicks, Olivia maintained a polished yet relaxed demeanor, radiating happiness as she socialized with colleagues and fellow celebrities.

The event, emceed by comedian Joel Dommett, revisited the same Guildhall where ITV initially aired in 1955, commemorating seven decades of television moments encompassing drama, news, soap operas, and daytime programs.

A myriad of stars from various ITV programs graced the celebration, including Good Morning Britain anchor Susanna Reid, elegantly clad in a black evening gown with a thigh-high slit, and co-host Charlotte Hawkins, who chose a sheer embroidered blue dress.

The festivity coincided with recent alterations to ITV’s daytime lineup. In a bid to reduce costs, shows like Lorraine and Loose Women will transition to seasonal broadcasts, with Lorraine airing for just 30 minutes daily. Additionally, these shows, along with This Morning, will relocate from their Television Centre studios in West London, signaling a fresh chapter for the network.

ITV marked its 70th anniversary with a grand party overseen by Joel Dommett. However, concerns were raised by ITV employees, as reported by The Mirror, regarding the discord between the lavish celebration and recent staff layoffs.

According to a source cited by The Mirror, daytime staff expressed discontent over the anniversary festivities amidst ongoing job cuts within the organization.

Earlier this year, ITV disclosed plans to terminate the positions of 220 production personnel, half of the daytime programming workforce.

Consequently, Lorraine Kelly’s show will be shortened to 30 minutes, airing for just 30 weeks annually, while adjustments will also be made to Loose Women.
