LG TV owners are in for a treat this holiday season as LG has unveiled a significant update to its LG Channels platform, offering a range of new features and additional free content, including content from Sky.
The recent update, starting its rollout this month, enables users with select LG TVs to access Sky Sports Stories, Sky Sports Vault, and Sky Sports Classics without the need for a subscription. Furthermore, LG has included the Sky News channel to expand its free channel lineup.
In addition to the Sky content, the update introduces LG1 Christmas for festive programming, the FIFA+ Women Channel for soccer enthusiasts, and the DP World Tour for golf fans. These new channels fall under LG Channels’ FAST (Free Ad-Supported Television) services, which means viewers will encounter advertisements during their viewing experience.
Apart from the new channels, the update brings enhancements like personalized content suggestions and a revamped user interface to facilitate quicker and easier content discovery. A new “Quick Access” feature allows viewers to conveniently access channel information, TV guide, favorites, and popular content by pressing the “OK” button on the LG Magic Remote while watching a program.
Chris Jo, Head of the webOS Platform Business Centre at LG Media Entertainment Solution Company, emphasized the goal of LG Channels to provide seamless access to engaging content, stating that the latest upgrade aims to enhance the viewing experience for millions of users worldwide through improved personalization features and a more intuitive interface.
