“Manhattan Introduces Aero 4K TV Streamer with Freely”

Must read

The shift from traditional television to streaming services continues to gain momentum. Sky has been at the forefront of this transition, introducing innovative devices like the Stream box and Glass TV that utilize broadband to deliver live and on-demand content directly to homes without the need for a traditional satellite dish. While Sky has been a dominant player in this space, new options are emerging.

One such alternative is Freely, launched in 2024 and supported by the creators of Freeview. Freely allows users to access popular TV shows, sports, and movies through broadband streaming. Initially, viewers required a new television with built-in Freely capabilities to access the service, which was somewhat inconvenient. However, a recent development introduced a Freely-compatible Pleio puck, enabling users to access the platform on existing TVs.

Adding to the array of choices is Manhattan’s debut of its first Freely set-top box. Known for its successful Freeview boxes that offered features similar to Sky Q, Manhattan is now venturing into the streaming realm with the launch of the Aero 4K TV Streamer in February. This device promises access to 60 live TV channels and over 75,000 hours of on-demand content without the need for a monthly subscription. Like Sky’s Stream box, content is delivered via Wi-Fi, eliminating the requirement for an antenna or satellite dish.

Operating on the acclaimed TiVo OS, the Aero provides access not only to Freely but also to popular streaming apps such as Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, and YouTube. Additionally, it includes TiVo+ with approximately 400 free streaming channels and a vast library of on-demand movies and TV shows.

Designed for superior picture quality in 4K resolution, the Aero features voice search functionality but lacks the ability to record programs to a hard drive.

Alex Arbab-Zadeh, COO of Manhattan, commented on the launch, stating, “Freely is an excellent new platform that brings top-notch British television over broadband without monthly fees – but not all TVs come equipped with it. Aero resolves this issue. Simply connect to Wi-Fi, and you can enjoy live TV, catch-up services, and all your favorite streaming apps. It’s a straightforward and cost-effective way to enhance any TV without replacing it.”

The Manhattan Aero 4K TV Streamer with Freely is set to be released in February 2026, priced at £69.99, and will be stocked at retailers like Currys, John Lewis, and Amazon.
