“Massive Fire Engulfs London Shop, 100 Firefighters Respond”

A shop in London caught fire this evening, prompting a swift response from fifteen fire engines and approximately 100 firefighters. The London Fire Brigade reported that the fire impacted a ground floor shop with flats above, leading to the closure of the station and advising locals to keep windows and doors shut. In Forest Hill, fire crews are still battling a blaze that started in a shop and connected workshop. Around 15 people were evacuated from nearby buildings, with no injuries reported so far.

As of 9:45 pm, parts of the ground floor shop and the first and second floors are still ablaze, along with a single-story workshop behind the shop. Station Commander Anthony Lewis mentioned that the operation will be prolonged, and crews will work through the night to fully extinguish the fire. Smoke precautions are advised for residents in the area, with significant traffic disruptions expected.

Southern Rail services will not stop at Forest Hill station until further notice, with alternative routes available. Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing, and a 25-meter cordon remains in place, causing traffic disruptions in the Forest Hill area. Commuters are advised to expect delays due to road closures and emergency response activities.
