Oasis has enlisted guitarist Mike Moore to take over for Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs on their upcoming tour. Moore, a close friend of Liam Gallagher and a member of his solo touring band, will begin playing rhythm guitar starting tomorrow at the Goyang Stadium in Seoul. Fans spotted Moore arriving at the airport, and sources close to the band confirmed his new role.
Bonehead will be absent for parts of the tour due to prostate cancer treatment he disclosed in October. A band insider mentioned, “Mike Moore has been performing with Liam since 2017, familiar with Oasis songs from the solo shows. It’s a temporary arrangement, and everyone wishes Bonehead a speedy recovery while Mike is thrilled to join the stage.” Additionally, Christian Madden on keyboards joins Moore as part of Liam’s band in Oasis.
The core lineup of Noel Gallagher, Gem Archer, Andy Bell, and Joey Waronker remains intact. Following successful UK performances, the band is currently in South Korea before heading to Australia and concluding the tour in Chile, Brazil, and Argentina.
Bonehead shared his cancer diagnosis on social media, expressing optimism about his treatment progress and regret for missing upcoming shows. He plans to return for the South American leg in November. Noel Gallagher’s daughter Anais sent supportive words to Bonehead online.
Bonehead played a crucial role in reuniting Noel and Liam Gallagher for the ongoing tour, which commenced with two sold-out shows in Cardiff, marking their first performances in nearly 16 years. During the comeback tour, Noel humorously acknowledged the band members, crediting Bonehead for making the reunion possible.
In 2022, Bonehead revealed a previous diagnosis of tonsil cancer but updated his followers in September that he was cancer-free and on the road to recovery.
