“Mother Shields Face in Court as Son Found Dead in Ice Cooler”

Must read

In a courtroom, a mother facing charges for the abuse and killing of her 8-year-old son shielded her face as he was discovered in a cooler filled with ice.

The boy, known as Isaiah H, was found inside the cooler at a residential complex on October 28, leading to murder and torture charges against his parents and grandmother. Following a welfare check request by a neighbor, the disturbing revelation came to light.

During her initial court appearance, Destiny Luckie Harrison, Isaiah’s mother, concealed her face, while his father, Daniel Alberto Monzon, and grandmother, Ana Carcamo Zarceno, were absent from the proceedings.

Additionally, the trio was accused of being accessories after the fact, as confirmed by a statement from the Los Angeles County District Attorney. Nathan J. Hochman, the District Attorney, expressed outrage at the situation, emphasizing the betrayal of trust suffered by Isaiah at the hands of those meant to care for him.

The arrests and charges occurred on October 31, coinciding with their scheduled court appearance in southern Los Angeles. Monzon refused to attend court, and Zarceno cited illness as reasons for her absence.

Harrison attended court, but her defense attorney used folders to shield her face from public view, even upon entering the courtroom. The district attorney’s office noted the challenges in confirming Isaiah’s age and identity.

Reports indicated a lack of evidence that Isaiah attended school, and following the discovery of his body, three other children aged 16, 14, and 9 were found at the same residence complex. Allegedly, one of the children witnessed the abuse.

Bail for the parents and grandmother has been set at $2 million, and if convicted, they could face 32 years to life in a California state prison, according to the district attorney’s office.
